Term Based Programmes

Primary Programmes (Years 1-6)

Our primary maths programmes combine systematic teaching with rigorous practice,
helping students build confidence and excel beyond their school level.

Our Maths and English programmes are designed for all ability levels, building confidence and a genuine love of learning through an innovative and systematic approach. 

Session Structure

A typical weekly 1.5-hour session is split into two parts: 

Maths

  • Foundation Topic – Strengthening and deepening core knowledge in numeracy (including mental cmaths), fractions, time/clocks, 2D/3D shapes and other key mathematical concepts 
  • Challenge Set – Techniques for tackling multi-step, exam-style problems and developing early problem-solving skills 

English 

  • Building and deepening core skills in SPaG, vocabulary, comprehension and writing 
  • Higher-level reading, reasoning, and writing tasks which help to develop thinking skills 

Homework

Weekly homework reinforces concepts taught in the session and is reviewed at the start of the following session to track progress and consolidate learning. 

Small Groups

Children are taught in groups of around 6, encouraging a positive and collaborative atmosphere.

Feedback

Ongoing assessments track progress across both subjects, with weekly feedback provided to parents after each session and more detailed feedback at the end of each term.

Year by Year

  • Year 1 – 1.5-hour weekly sessions per subject | Accelerated preparation for 7+ 
  • Year 2 – 1.5-hour weekly sessions per subject | Accelerated preparation for 8+ 
  • Year 3 – 1.5-hour weekly sessions per subject  

Our 11+ programme builds on core skills in Maths and English, building a strong foundation in Y4 and developing advanced problem-solving and critical thinking techniques to prepare students for exams and secondary school success in Y5Y6.

  • Challenge Set — Advanced techniques for tackling complex, multi-step, exam-style problems and developing robust problem-solving skills 

English 

  • Building and deepening core skills in SPaG, vocabulary, comprehension and writing 
  • Higher-level reading, reasoning, and writing tasks designed to stretch thinking and develop strong analytical skills 

Homework

Weekly homework reinforces learning and is reviewed at the start of the following session to ensure retention and understanding. 

Small Groups

Groups of around 6 students, promoting collaboration, peer learning, and active participation.

Year by Year

  • Year 4 — 2-hour weekly sessions per subject| Building a robust toolkit in Maths & English 
  • Year 5 — 2-hour weekly sessions per subject | Accelerated preparation for 11+ 
  • Year 6 — 2-hour weekly sessions per subject | Preparing for secondary school with confidence 

Secondary Programmes (Years 7-11)

Our secondary maths programmes focus on developing analytical thinking and mastery of
complex concepts, supported by challenging problem-solving and exam-focused preparation.

Our secondary programme strengthens core skills while developing advanced problem-solving, reasoning, and analytical techniques in Maths and English  preparing students for exams, the demands of secondary school, and long-term academic confidence. 

Session Structure

A typical weekly 1.5-hour session is as follows: 

Maths 

  • Weekly Topic – Strengthening and deepening core knowledge in numeracy, algebra, geometry, statistics, probability and other key mathematical concepts  
  • Problem Solving – Students are given problem solving maths questions (inspired by UKMT challenges) to develop their thinking skills and learn different ways of approaching problems.  

English 

  • Building and deepening core skills in comprehension and writing 
  • Higher-level reading, reasoning, and writing tasks designed to stretch thinking and develop strong analytical skills 

Homework

Weekly homework reinforces concepts taught in sessions and is selectively reviewed. 

Small Groups

Groups of around 6 students, encouraging collaboration, peer learning, and active participation. 

Year by Year

  • Year 7: 1.5-hour weekly sessions | Strengthening core skills and advanced thinking 
  • Year 8: 1.5-hour weekly sessions | Accelerated learning for secondary success 
  • Year 9: 1.5-hour weekly sessions | Exam preparation and academic mastery

Our term-based GCSE programmes focus on reinforcing core knowledge and teaching advanced skills in Maths, English, and test taking; with a clear aim of helping students achieve top GCSE grades.

Session Structure

A typical weekly 1.5-hour session is as follows:

Maths 

  • Weekly Topic – A carefully structured GCSE curriculum focused on securing core knowledge and tackling the most challenging problems within each topic. We teach students how to clearly lay out workings to maximise marks. 
  • Test Practice – In addition, frequent short, timed tests are used to revisit topics and help students become more comfortable working under time pressure.  

English 

  • Building and deepening core skills in comprehension and writing 
  • Higher-level reading, reasoning, and writing tasks designed to stretch thinking and develop strong analytical skills 

Homework

Weekly homework reinforces concepts taught in sessions and is selectively reviewed.

Small Groups

Groups of around 6 students, encouraging collaboration, peer learning, and active participation. 

Year by Year

  • Year 10 – 2-hour weekly sessions | Building strong foundations and developing exam skills 
  • Year 11 – 2-hour weekly sessions | Intensive revision and exam preparation, targeting Grade 9 

How to Sign Up for Our Term-Based Classes

For our term-based courses, we place students in regular weekly classes individually, ensuring they are well-suited to the level and atmosphere of each class. This approach helps students get the most out of their lessons.

Sign-Up Process:

1. Fill Out the Enquiry Form
Once you submit the form, you will automatically be added to our waitlist. A member of our team will contact you with a trial date when a space becomes available in an existing class or when a new class opens.

2. Attend a Trial Class
You will be invited to try the class. After your trial, if you wish to continue, we will send an invoice to secure your place in the class for the term.

Yes, we do offer online courses. Any courses that are available online only or in person only will be clearly indicated in the course description.

One class per term may be rescheduled subject to availability. Full commitment and payment are required prior to commencement, and refunds are not issued for missed sessions. 

All lesson materials and stationery are provided. Students receive a Shine notebook and folder, which should be brought to each session. Replacements are available if required.

Lesson length varies by year group and programme type. Most sessions run between 1.5 and 3 hours, with a short break included.
