You don’t need a big agency to get results. Our streamlined process delivers a bespoke website true to your brand

Why Shanghai Methodology?

Shanghai Maths embodies the belief that every child can do well if they are taught well. The Shanghai Maths approach has attracted widespread public attention since.

Why Topic Specific Sessions?

At the core of Shanghai Maths principles is the belief that children learn better when a topic is fully explored and taught in depth.

Why SMALL GROUPs?

We believe small group lessons are more effective than one-on-one tutoring or teaching in larger groups, as it allows everyone to.

RESULTS & CREDIBILITY STRIP

Trusted by West London families Proven by results

Our structured approach has helped students gain places at leading London day and independent schools.

2020 – Foundation

Shine was founded with a simple mission – to deliver high-quality, engaging academic support for students. Launching during the COVID-19 lockdown, all classes were delivered online via Zoom. Our initial programme focused on 11+ Maths preparation, helping students build strong problem-solving foundations during one of the most challenging periods in modern education.

2021 – Early Expansion

Following strong demand from families, Shine expanded its Maths offering to include younger students in Years 1–2 and Years 4–6. The year also saw the launch of our first holiday courses, focused on Primary Maths Challenge (PMC) preparation — bringing competition-style problem-solving into our curriculum for the first time.

2022 – Broadening the Curriculum

Our Maths programme expanded to cover all primary year groups, creating a continuous learning pathway from Year 1 through to Year 6. Alongside this, we introduced an English programme for 11+ students, focusing on reading comprehension, vocabulary development, and exam technique for top independent school entrance exams.

2023 – Academic Enrichment

This year Shine introduced dedicated Reasoning courses to further support students preparing for top independent school assessments. Our Maths holiday programme expanded to include Junior Mathematical Challenge (JMC) preparation, while our English offering broadened across more year groups. We also launched specialist holiday courses focused on creative and discursive writing for Y4 and Y5 students.

2024 – New Courses

This year we launched preparation courses for St Paul’s Girls’ School Paper C — a cross-curricular programme pitched at a high level of intellectual challenge. Our bespoke papers bring together Reasoning, Science, and Humanities, with teachers guiding students through key strategies while encouraging them to share and discuss their approaches with peers. We also introduced holiday maths courses for secondary school students.

2025 – secondary school expansion

This year we launched preparation courses for St Paul’s Girls’ School Paper C — a cross-curricular programme pitched at a high level of intellectual challenge. Our bespoke papers bring together Reasoning, Science, and Humanities, with teachers guiding students through key strategies while encouraging them to share and discuss their approaches with peers. We also introduced holiday maths courses for secondary school students.

2026 – Fulham Centre & Full Programme

Shine opened its new in-person Fulham Centre — a dedicated space for classes and operations. Our Maths programme expanded to cover the full secondary pathway, including GCSE Mathematics, Advanced Mathematics, and Further Mathematics. UKMT preparation extended to the Senior Mathematical Challenge, and we launched a comprehensive English programme for secondary students. The year also saw the introduction of GCSE Chemistry and Physics, further broadening our academic offering.
